Lead magnets
A lead magnet is a free sample generated from an existing product. dough automates the entire process: selecting the best recipes, creating a condensed PDF, building a Kit opt-in form, and setting up a delivery sequence that nurtures new subscribers toward purchasing the full product.
How lead magnet generation works
- Open a published (or draft) ebook or recipe card pack.
- Click Generate Lead Magnet.
- dough selects the top 3-5 recipes from the product by engagement score. If engagement scores are not available, the first 5 recipes are used.
- A condensed PDF is rendered using the same template as the parent product.
- The last page of the PDF includes a call to action: “Get the full [Product Title]” with a link to the product’s listing (if published).
- dough creates a Kit opt-in form that includes a dietary preference multi-select field.
- dough creates a Kit delivery sequence (see below).
The delivery sequence
When a lead magnet is created, dough sets up a 4-email Kit sequence:
| Day | |
|---|---|
| 0 | Delivery — “Here’s your free [Lead Magnet Title]!” with the PDF attached. |
| 2 | Value email — tips related to the lead magnet topic (AI-drafted, you edit). |
| 4 | Another recipe card from your library. |
| 7 | Pitch — “Get the full [Product Title]” with a link to the sales page. |
All sequence emails are created as drafts. You review and activate the sequence in Kit.
The opt-in form
The generated Kit form:
- Captures email and first name.
- Includes a multi-select field for dietary preferences (Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Vegan, Vegetarian, Keto, Paleo, Nut-Free).
- Tags subscribers on sign-up for tracking.
The form embed code is shown in your dough dashboard. Embed it on your blog, Substack, or landing page.
