Automations

dough’s automation engine creates Kit sequences and broadcast drafts on your behalf, but it never sends anything without your approval. Every automation produces a draft that you review, edit, and schedule yourself.

Save This Recipe sequences

When a subscriber clicks Save This Recipe, dough can enroll them in a follow-up sequence. See Save This Recipe for full details.

New recipe broadcast drafts

When you mark a recipe as email-ready, dough creates a broadcast draft in Kit. See Broadcast drafts for full details.

Lead magnet delivery sequences

When you create a lead magnet, dough generates a 4-email Kit sequence. See Lead magnets for full details.

Seasonal recipe drops

Seasonal drops let you schedule recipe broadcasts around a theme and timeframe.

Setting up a seasonal drop

  1. Go to Settings > Automations > Seasonal Drops.
  2. Click New Seasonal Drop.
  3. Configure:
    • Season label — for example, “Holiday Baking” or “Summer Grilling.”
    • Start date and end date — specific dates or annual recurrence.
    • Collection — which collection to draw recipes from.
    • Target segment — all subscribers, or a specific dietary tag filter.
  4. Save.

How seasonal drops work

On the start date, dough selects a recipe from the specified collection (choosing the highest engagement score among recipes that have not yet been used in this season’s drops). It creates a Kit broadcast draft with the recipe card and notifies you in the dashboard.

You open Kit, review the draft, write your intro, and send.
